When Dinosaurs Come Alive, Erth Dinosaur Zoo Live remembered

Jackson and I got to go on a little date for his birthday.  We attended Erth Dinosaur Zoo Live at the Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha, NE.

SEE!  RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!

Jackson observed from the back row, which really wasn’t all that bad, considering there were just three or four rows of chairs wrapping around the outside of the small theater.WP_20140322_11_32_34_Pro

The T-Rex and the Triceratops fought and it was pretty cool.  The narrator (Amy) did a great job of setting the stage and keeping kids (and adults) engaged in the performance.  It wasn’t just a

“This is a T-Rex.  We now think they had feathers.
This is another dino…blah, blah, blah”

The scripting was lively and funny and kept us entertained, so that was great!WP_20140322_11_31_43_Pro WP_20140322_11_28_56_Pro

Amy presented each dinosaur, and she and the “handlers” interacted with the puppets, and had volunteers from the audience come up and interact with them as well.   WP_20140322_11_05_54_Pro This dino handler/puppeteer was named Jackson..of course my Jack picked him as his favorite.

Although I had wished the show had been a little longer then it was (about 50 minutes), it was really neat to be sitting in a room with dinosaurs.  Sure, I know they aren’t real, but they look just like they did in the kids story books from my childhood, so it was really neat!  The comedic relief was good, too.  A little bit of young kid humor, and a little humor that was over their head but made the adults chuckle.

Check out Dinosaur Zoo Live and see if they are coming to a city near you!  Just as the dinosaurs no longer roam the streets of Omaha, they are long gone from our city, but maybe a city near YOU will have the opportunity to be filled with the sights and sounds of dinosaurs, even if just for an hour….

OH…and do NOT forget to check out Omaha Performings Arts website to see the next awesome kids shows heading our way!  And for all you mommies out there….WICKED IS COMING IN MAY!  I can hardly contain my excitement!  I think I need reread the book series STAT!

Disclosure:  In exchange for my participation in sharing information OPA had provided tickets for my son and myself.  All opinions expressed where my own.
