Cajun Crawfish Boil…in Nebraska?

Yes, you read that right.  We had a crawfish boil…in Omaha, NE!

crawfish tee shirt, cajun crawfish boil, cajuns in nebraska, crawfish in omaha

And they weren’t frozen crawfish, or from China, or some other crazy way to get them, either…they were real LIVE crawfish…flown in from Louisiana just for our little Father’s Day Celebration…it was the idea of Jennifer and Jess, (or Jason?) and I think it was a great idea!

Let me start out by telling you how we all tie together.

2013-06-16 17.26.18Bart, Chad (married to Jess in the middle), and Jason (married to Jennifer on the right) all moved to Omaha from Baton Rouge in the early spring of 2007, after their work site shut down in Baton Rouge…they were given the option to move to Omaha and do what they were doing in Baton Rouge, or be out of a job….well, these three decided to move..and amazingly, they’ve remained friends through it all!  Jason and Jennifer were married in LA before the move, but Chad just last year married Jess and Jason and Bart were in the wedding!  Aww, how sweet is that!!!  We have them over for LSU football games quite a bit…it’s been fun to get to know them better…but anyway, back to the CRAWFISH BOIL!

Of course, Bart doesn’t even eat crawfish, so he got some Raising Canes on the way to the party (BOGO on your Caniac card b/c of Father’s Day!), but I think he enjoyed the process of cooking them…and playing with them.

He did a great job!  I ate more then my fair share, if I do say so myself.

It was so good.  I could only get Brennan (who was very into watching and “helping” the fish cook) to eat one.  The other boys opted for hot dogs only.  Boo for no sense of adventure.

I hope we are able to continue the tradition and have more crawfish boils in the future.  Crawfish boils aren’t something that was a big part of my life growing up, but man alive, I sure do love crawfish…so I hope I will be able to continue to participate and let the boys try them out as well!
